日本のマンガ・アニメ： マンガとアニメの接点を探る

【目標】
本演習では、日本のマンガ・アニメについて、美学・美術史学的な視点から、その批評的言説を検討する。
【授業内容】
　　現代の日本マンガ・アニメは非常に多様な広がりを見せており、論じることが難しくなったと言われている。そこで、マンガ・アニメの表現方法に着目し、現代の日本で行われているマンガ論の主要な論点を選び、テキストを講読しつつ、日本マンガ・アニメを巡る諸問題を討論していきたい。とりわけ今学期は、以下の4点について考察する。
(1) 日本マンガの特質： コマ構成の意味
(2) マンガからアニメへ： コマをフィルムにする
(3) 日本アニメの特質： アニメ制作の実際
(4) アニメ論の現状と課題

【評価方法】
授業参加：50％、期末レポート：50％

Programme: Seminar on Japanese Modern Culture

Objective: This seminar examines how Japanese comics (Manga) and animation films (Anime) have been described in critical discourses, from the view point of aesthetics and art history.
Description: Description: It is often said that we find it difficult to argue about the features of modern Japanese comics and animations, for they have become really diverse and various. We will thus concentrate our topics on the styles of drawing and depiction in Manga and/or Anime, and read some chapters to discuss current and essential issues:
(1) The features of Japanese Manga: the meanings of frames in Manga pages.
(2) From Manga to Anime: Making animated films from still pictures.
(3) The features of Japanese Anime: how they are created.
(4) The current issues on studying Japanese Anime.

Assessment: Class Participation: 50%, Essay: 50%
